Traditional Thai Yoga Massage has it’s roots in the Ancient Indian system of Yoga & Ayurveda and is believed to have been developed by the legendary Jivaka Kumar Baccha who was physician to an order of Buddhist Monks at the time of Buddha. The Thai people call him Dr Shivago – The Father of Medicine.
It was never just a massage but a complete system of keeping the Mind Body and Spirit balanced and at ease, by using massage with hands, feet, elbows, knees and thumbs, assisted yoga stretches, gentle rocking movements, spinal mobilisation and acupressure along the meridian lines.
All designed to be a deeply holistic treatment and keep the body’s energy freely flowing.
It is a deeply relaxing, meditative experience, a graceful dance – no force or strength is used and because it is linked to the Buddhist practice of Samattha (Conscious Meditation), the mind is stilled and becomes more receptive to our inner voice. Out of that quiet mind arises the quality of METTA or Loving Kindness – and this is the spirit in which I offer Thai Yoga Massage.
Treatment is usually given on a thickly padded Thai floor mat and you remain fully clothed ( loose clothing).
No oils are used ( unless you wish the facial massage to be included)
The massage can last from 45 – 90 minutes.
